Anyone wishing to present at the 46th Annual Conference have to apply by January 11, 2025 (Saturday) must follow the instruction below.
The call for presentations are open to the following four categories. Please read the corresponding instructions carefully and apply by clicking the Google Forms link.
1 Individual paper presentation
2 Closed panel presentation, composed of multiple paper presentations
3 Poster presentation, without a paper
4 Individual presentations by the member of the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University (co-sponsor)
1 Individual paper presentation
If you wish to submit an individual paper, please select “Individual paper” and fill in the following information and click “Submit”.

- Preferred discussant(s)
- Abstract (300-400 characters in Japanese or 150-200 words in English)
The organizing committee and the AJEL directors will assign discussants for each individual paper. Nonetheless, we ask individual paper applicants to provide the name(s) of one or more preferred discussants. The final assignment decision will be made by the organizing committee.
The presenter of individual papers must be a member of the Japan Association for Latin American Studies, JALAS (Asociación Japonesa de Estudios Latinoamericanos, AJEL).
Presenters are required to submit a paper prior to the conference. The papers will be made available for JALAS-AJEL members during two weeks before and after the date of the Annual Conference.

2 Closed Panel Presentations
Only the panel chair can submit closed panel proposals. If you are a panel chair, please select "Panel Report", fill out the form below and click "Submit".

- Names and institutional affiliations of moderator, presenters, and discussants, and title of all papers included in the panel (if in Japanese)
- Panel abstract (300-400 Japanese characters or 150-200 words)
Panels will have a maximum of 120 minutes. The panel chair must be responsible of the timeline structure for the panel.
In principle, the moderator, presenters, and discussants should be members of the Japan Association for Latin American Studies, JALAS (Asociación Japonesa de Estudios Latinoamericanos, AJEL). However, non-members may participate in the panel if it is deemed essential to the purpose and the composition of the panel. In such a case, the panel chair must state the reason for the non-member's participation. Non-members are required to pay a conference participation fee of 1,000 yen per person (except for the faculty members and students of the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University, the co-sponsor of the Annual Conference).
Presenters are required to submit a paper prior to the conference. The papers will be made available for JALAS-AJEL members during two weeks before and after the date of the Annual Conference.
3 Poster Presentations
If you wish to submit a poster presentation, please select "Poster Presentation," fill in the following information, and click “Submit”.

- Paper title
- Abstract (300-400 characters in Japanese or 150-200 words in English)
Only undergraduate and graduate students, both members and non-members, are eligible to present a poster. The registration fee is not required for making a poster presentation.
Posters must be printed by the presenter.
Posters will be displayed at the designated location during the program schedule hours assigned by the organizing committee. Poster presenters are expected to stay in the location during the poster session.
Poster presenters are not required to submit a paper.
4 Presentations by the members of the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University (co-sponsor)
If you are a non-member of JALAS-AJEL and a faculty member or student of the Graduate School of International Development (GSID), Nagoya University, you can submit a paper for presentation. In that case, please select "GSID Presentation" and click "Submit" after filling in the following required information.

A special session will be organized for the GSID presentations as a part of the Annual Conference.
Presenters are required to submit a paper prior to the conference. The papers will be made available for JALAS-AJEL members during two weeks before and after the date of the Annual Conference.
